Julien Lenglet & Fleur Pedersen

🚗 Subaru Impreza WRX – Class G

For Julien Lenglet, motorsport has been a passion for as long as he can remember.

"I've always loved anything with wheels. It started with push cars, then bicycles, then my first motorbike when I was seven years old… and it never stopped."

Born and raised in Vanuatu to French parents, Julien built his first rally car at the age of 20—almost 30 years ago—and has been competing ever since.

Over the years, he's celebrated plenty of memorable achievements, including winning numerous rallies in Vanuatu and claiming the Vanuatu Rally Championship four times over the past decade.

But when asked about his proudest rally achievement, one result stands above the rest.

"Finishing ninth overall at Rally Otago 2025 would have to be my proudest achievement."

Like every rally driver, Julien has collected a few stories along the way.

"After disappearing into the pine trees during a rally with Ben Huband a couple of years ago, I ended up being called 'Wally'... as in 'Where's Wally?'!" 😄

One thing many people may not realise is that rallying in New Zealand presented another challenge altogether.

"Being French-speaking, I first had to learn what pace notes were... then translate them in my head while competing. That can still be a challenge!"

Alongside Julien is highly experienced co-driver Fleur Pedersen, whose own rally story began with one unforgettable ride in a Mk1 Ford Escort.

"He threw it sideways into the first corner... and I was hooked!"

Fleur has since gone on to enjoy an outstanding rally career, including winning the International Rally of Thailand alongside Brian Green.

The pair are excited to experience Rally Taumarunui for the first time.

"From everything I've seen on social media, the stages look amazing."

After four months away from competition, Julien can't wait to be back where he belongs.

"I'm looking forward to getting back in the seat and feeling that adrenaline rush!"

As for Fleur?

"She's incredibly dedicated and has so much experience as a co-driver... too many years to count, but I won't say exactly how many—that wouldn't be politically correct!" 😉😄

And when asked what they'd like the community to know, Julien's answer was simple.

"We're here to have fun!"

Please join us in welcoming Julien and Fleur to Rally Taumarunui, and be sure to give them a wave when you see the Subaru Impreza WRX out on the stages! 👋🏁
