Every rally competitor has a first event.

For Logan Campbell and co-driver Seth Holloway, that first chapter begins at Rally Taumarunui.

After years of competing in local car club events, the pair have decided it's time to take the next step into stage rallying.

"I've wanted to do a rally for the past eight years and now we've finally got the opportunity. We started with local car club events, and now it's time to step up!"

When deciding where to make their rally debut, Rally Taumarunui stood out for all the right reasons.

"We entered because of the central service park and fuel stop, the great length stages, and we've heard the roads have a bit of everything."

There was another reason they simply couldn't miss it.

"It's the first time this event has been run in 25 years."

Like many first-time competitors, their goals are refreshingly straightforward.

"Honestly, what we're looking forward to most is putting the car back on the trailer at the end of the day in one piece... and of course slinging some stones!"

While Rally Taumarunui marks the beginning of their rally journey, Logan and Seth aren't stopping there. They're already planning to contest the Hawke's Bay Rally later in August as they continue building their experience together.

Every experienced rally crew remembers their first event, and for Logan and Seth, Rally Taumarunui will always be where that journey began.
